Abstract
Two Dutch students of mathematics under the guidance of their mentor prepared some e-learning material on Linear function for grade 9 students from Tone Okrogar Primary school from Zagorje ob Savi. The e-learning material was then forwarded to the two Slovenian teachers who reviewed and supplemented it with regard to the Slovenian curriculum objectives and to the 14 years-old students Maths knowledge.
After that the Dutch and Slovenian “team” of teachers discussed and harmonized the way the two Maths lessons should be carried out in the classroom.
We agreed to perform the two lessons together with the two Dutch students simultaneously - the Slovene students and their teachers in the classroom in live while the two Dutch students at a distance through VOX conference.
The e-learning material prepared in cooperation of both groups was designed for passive use of ICT in the classroom.
In this case ICT was not used as a cognitive tool for students to acquire new mathematical knowledge but with the help of it we proved how distance, language and the differences in the curricula could not be a barrier for intergenerational collaboration.
We can be proud of the two well prepared and carried out lessons and the planned goals achieved due to the fact that for all the participants, from Slovene students and their teacher of Mathematics to the two Dutch students and their mentor the described event was a completely new experience.
