Active role of students in geography lessons by using ICT

Povzetek

Kakovosten pouk je predpogoj za aktivnost in motivacijo učencev pri pouku geografije. V prispevku je predstavljeno, kako na primeru učne teme Zahodna Evropa s pomočjo računalniških programov in spletnih strani pri pouku geografije (SMART Notebook, SMART Response, Google Zemlja, You Tube, Wordle in Prezi) učitelji dosegamo kvalitetnejše znanje, večjo aktivnost in motiviranost učencev. Informacijsko-komunikacijska tehnologija (IKT) je učitelju v pomoč pri doseganju kvalitetnega znanja, saj  učenci 21. stoletja potrebujejo učitelje 21. stoletja, ki morajo biti računalniško suvereni in kreativni pri poučevanju. Anketa, ki je bila izvedena med učenci 7. razreda, potrjuje, da po mnenju učencev uporaba IKT pri pouku pripomore k bolj kvalitetnemu znanju, aktivnosti in motiviranosti učencev pri pouku geografije. Učenci se strinjajo, da je pouk veliko bolj zanimiv, če učitelji uporabljamo pri poučevanju moderno tehnologijo (LCD projektorji, interaktivne table, računalniški programi, spletne učilnice, učne animacije, učne igre,...), zato so po mnenju učencev pri pouku veliko bolj motivirani in aktivni. Prav tako si učenci želijo, da bi lahko tudi sami pri pouku geografije uporabljali poleg zvezka, delovnega zvezka in atlasa tudi računalnik. Po mnenju učencev so pri pouku geografije najbolj uporabni You Tube, SMART Response, SMART Notebook in Google Zemlja.

Abstract

Quality teaching is a prerequisite for activite and motivated students in geography lessons. The article presents how teachers teaching geography of Western Europe achieve a higher quality knowledge, more active and motivated  students using computer programs and websites for teaching geography (SMART Notebook, SMART Response, Google Earth, You Tube, Wordle and Prezi). Information and communication technology (ICT) helps teachers achieving quality knowledge, because students of the 21st century need a 21st century computer-skilled and creative teacher. A survey was conducted among eleven years old students. According to students the use of ICT in in geography lessons contributes to better quality knowledge, more acvtive and more motivated students. Students agree that teaching is much more interesting if teachers use modern technology to teach (LCD projectors, interactive whiteboards, computer programs, online classrooms, educational animations, learning games). According to the results of the survey students also want to use in a classroom computers, alongside geography workbook, workbooks and the atlas.  According to the survey students belive that the most useful programs and web pages used during geography lessons are You Tube, SMART Response, SMART Notebook, and Google Earth.
