Povzetek
Kaj pomeni biti državljan digitalnega sveta? Kaj lahko storijo (in bi morale storiti) šole, da bi se mladi lažje spoprijeli s tem izzivom? Conor Galvin bo predaval o vprašanjih identitete in aktivnega državljanstva v digitalnem življenju. Dotaknil se bo ključnih vprašanj o zasebnosti/vidnosti, identiteti in lastništvu digitalnega jaza, in se vprašal, kako lahko v šolah pomagamo mladim, da bi bolje razumeli te in podobne izzive in se znali spoprijeti z njimi. Razpravljali bomo o Frydenbergovem seznamu 'Every-Day Digital', Watersovi zaskrbljenosti o obstoju izven Facebooka in Aronowitzovem razmišljanju o tem, kaj potrebujejo mladi, da postanejo informirani državljani, udeleženi v manjše in večje odločitve, ki spreminjajo naš svet. Predavanje se bo zaključilo z razmišljanjem o potrebi po življenju, ki je kritično naravnano, interakcijsko in participativno, in o ključni vlogi šole pri razvijanju spretnosti in zmožnosti, ki jih mladi potrebujejo za bogatejše in polnejše življenje v teh težkih časih.
Abstract
What does it mean to be a citizen in our digital world? And what can (and should) schools do to help young people deal with this challenge? In this talk, Conor Galvin explores questions of identity & active citizenship within digital lives. He will considersome key issues about privacy / visibility, identity and ownership of the digital self, and how we might work with young people in our schools to help them better understand and mediate these and similar challenges. The discussion will range from Frydenberg’s ‘Every-day Digital’ list and Waters’ concerns for presence beyond Facebook to Aronowitz’ more fundamental questions about what young people need in order to participate as informed citizens in the large and small public decisions that affect our world. The talk will conclude with some observations on the need for a life that is critically concerned, interactional, and participatory and on the central role of the school in helping young people to develop the skills and capabilities needed for richer, fuller lives in these troubled times."
