The use of iPad in biology classes

Povzetek
Osnovna značilnost bioloških sistemov je, da so kompleksni, kar od učiteljev zahteva obravnavo snovi iz različnih vidikov. Da bi dijaki snov osvojili in pridobili trajnejša znanja, je pri poučevanju nujna uporaba IKT-ja. V letošnjem šolskem letu sem začela pri urah biologije uporabljati iPad kot vir kvalitetnega e-gradiva (iBook Life on Earth) in pripomoček na vajah v laboratoriju in na terenu. Dijaki so novost dobro sprejeli, saj jim predstavljene animacije olajšajo predstavitev zapletenih procesov, na vajah pa imajo en pripomoček za brskanje po spletu, pisanje opomb in rezultatov ter fotografiranje.

Abstract
The basic characteristic of biological systems is that they are complex, which demands from a teacher to deal with topics from different perspectives. The use of ICT is very useful in classes in order to enable students to understand a particular topic and gain life-long knowledge. This school year I started using iPad in biology classes as a source of high quality e-learning material (iBook Life on Earth) as well as a tool in laboratory practical lessons and on the field. Students have well accepted the novelty since the presented animations ease the presentations of complicated processes. In addition to that, this tool also enables them to browse the websites, make notes and results as well as take photographs.
