Kranjska Gora, 21st - 24th March 2012
The international multiconference SIRikt 2012 will take place, as the 6th such international multiconference, from March 21st until March 24th at Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. The multiconference is aimed at pre-school teachers and their assistants, teachers, laboratory staff members, school directors, information scientists, IT experts, college and university professors, librarians, pupils, students and other users of ICT.
The conference consists of six events:
- Online Video-Conference Round Table
- Videoconference Day
- Arnes 2012 Conference - 20 YEARS OF THE INTERNET OF PEOPLE brings together users from the education, research and culture sectors, and is aimed at a broad spectrum of delegates, covering both user and systems aspects of the use of new technologies. (Wednesday, 21 March 2012, Hotel Kompas, Kranjska Gora)

- Conference 'Towards E-Competent Schools'
- Managing an E-Competent Educational Institution
- Didactic Approaches of E-Competent Teachers/Pre-School Teachers Topics:
- Interdisciplinary cooperation, team teaching, and project work with ICTModern methods of teaching and learning – such as interdisciplinary cooperation, collaborative teaching and the project approach – allow for an optimal achievement of specific learning aims by using ICT. ICT represents the linking element which functions either as the content or as the goal of such cooperation. In this conference track we welcome contributions presenting collaborative, interdisciplinary lessons that: incorporate innovative, creative and sensible uses of technology; are learner-oriented; are geared towards higher taxonomic domains; use the multiple perspectives approach to problem solving.
- Collaboration in online learning environmentsCollaboration in e-classrooms and other online learning environments encourages the development of collaborative skills, communication, innovation and critical thinking. Today's learning environments, which encompass also social networks, other services facilitated by Web 2.0, digital libraries and databases, enable teachers to develop new methodologies whilst maintaining an awareness of the importance of safety, copyright and online ethics. This track welcomes contributions that discuss new developments in these areas and promote the development of collaborative skills.
- Interactive lessonsThe basis of interactive lessons lies in the active role of the learner, which is why contributions in this conference track should present how ICT can be used to achieve interactivity in the classroom, and what the role of the i-board or other interactive technology is. The contributors should describe the didactic value of learning simulations or animations and interactive multimedia e-materials. They should point out how ICT can promote the development of students' thinking processes and notions of the same, as well as how educational games can be incorporated into lessons. The contributions can be practical, research-based, examples of good practices, or simply ideas worth sharing with the audience.
- Monitoring and evaluating knowledge/competencesFollowing the challenges of automatization is the challenge of using ICT to reach a higher quality of knowledge. ICT is also gaining in importance in the field of monitoring and evaluation (testing and assessment) of knowledge. In this conference track we welcome contributions on computer-aided monitoring and evaluation of knowledge/competences, the use of personal response systems in the classroom, and the interpretations of results in the form of feedback to teachers, students and parents. This track will also include contributions on the use of e-portfolios, studies of the use of ICT in the area of monitoring and evaluating knowledge, along with other relevant contributions.
- Teaching tailored to students and teaching with ICTToday's computer technology enables learning tailored to the (special) needs of children/pupils/students. This track welcomes contributions on: ICT as a means to develop an individual's strong and weak areas; ICT used for individual work or differentiated teaching; the use of e-materials in the classroom; hardware and software adjustments and ergonomics that enable children and youngsters to develop healthily. Also accepted will be papers on special needs students, students with specific learning difficulties, gifted students and vulnerable groups. As well, this track will include contributions on: good practices of teaching and learning at branch schools, where modern computer technology is used to solve didactic problems of combined classes; after school classes; and intergenerational learning.
- Computer-aided practical activitiesThis conference track is reserved for papers on practical activities that use ICT as a learning tool or as the object of study. Examples of such uses include: robotics, programming, laboratory and experimental work, online laboratories, field-work, practical work training (internship), process control, experiment simulations, modelling of real processes in natural sciences and technology, and so on. Priority will be given to contributions that contain an evaluation of completed activities and consider the impact of these activities on the quality of teaching and learning.
- Advanced computer toolsThis conference track will include contributions in the fields of programming, online and other software technologies, interactions of computers with other devices, open-source tools, advanced tools for information support, security, and research related to advanced computer tools in education, as well as similar topics.
- The KONFeT or eTwinning Event
- Training of E-education project collaborators
SIRikt is an opportunity for teaching staff, pupils and students who use modern tools of the digital age to share their experiences.
