SIRikt 2013 International Conference
Kranjska Gora, 15th - 17th May 2013

The SIRikt 2013 conference is a prominent event on the use of ICT in education. The conference is aimed at pre-school teachers and their assistants, teachers, laboratory staff members, school directors, information scientists, IT experts, college and university professors, librarians, pupils, students and other users of ICT.
The conference consists of five events:

- Online Video-Conference Round Table (Tuesday 14.5.2013)

The number of users in universities, schools and other organisations accessing wireless networks with mobile devices is rising rapidly. Users reasonably expect to be able to use services on mobile devices. As service administrators, do we recognise this, and are our networks and services ready? How can we avoid using them just for the sake of it? How can we use them to support the learning/educational process and to develop the digital and other important lifelong competences?
- Gaining Knowledge through Collaboration How do technology and virtual environments help us acquire and develop new skills by enabling effective communication and distance collaboration with all participants in the educational process?
- Navigating Data for Useful InsightHow can we find our bearings in the sea of miscellaneous information from various sources, critically assess it, and transform it into something sensible and useful?
- Safely and Ethically ConnectedWhat can we do about ethics and safety, considering the possibility of children/youngsters encountering abuse while using web or mobile technologies? What steps can we take to publish information in a legal and ethical way?
- Creating and Publishing ContentWhat is the impact of the multifarious digital content on teaching, learning and knowledge? How is such content different and innovative with regard to its creation, publication and use?
- A Classroom Built on ICTHow can technology be used to focus instruction on learners? How can we make learners more active, enable them to achieve taxonomically more demanding learning goals, and develop their ability to assess, self-evaluate and consequently acquire a lasting knowledge?
- ChallengesHow can we find our way around the world of one-to-one teaching, social media, and school management in the cloud? How can we develop media literacy? How can we survive new technological advances?
- The KONFeT or eTwinning Event
SIRikt gives educators the opportunity to exchange experiences among their peers by showing them practical usage of modern tools of the digital age.
