Povzetek

S pojmom Cloud Computing označujemo različne oblike izkoriščanja informacijskih virov, ki niso v lasti podjetja samega, ampak jih podjetje po potrebi najema od ponudnikov rešitev. Med najpogostejšimi načini uporabe rešitev Cloud Computinga so najem spletnega prostora, uporaba procesorskih zmogljivosti ter uporaba raznih aplikacij in storitev, nameščenih na oddaljenih računalnikih. V prispevku je poleg teoretične opredelitve Cloud Computinga opisan primer uporabe storitev Google Apps v Srednji šoli za gostinstvo in turizem v Ljubljani ter prednosti in nevarnosti tovrstne uporabe.

Abstract

The term Cloud Computing is used to describe various forms of using information resources that are not part of the organisation but are instead rented from providers when needed. The most common uses of Cloud Computing include web hosting, processor cycle utilisation and various applications and services on remote (cloud) computers. This article describes some theoretical definitions of Cloud Computing, the use of Google Apps at the Ljubljana Secondary Hospitality and Tourism School and also the advantages and risks of their use.
