iEARN projects: Cultural recipes – food for thought

Povzetek
Pouk tujega jezika (v našem primeru angleščine) lahko zelo obogatimo s sodelovanjem v mrežnih projektih iEARN.
Namen projekta iEARN Cultural Recipes Book – Food for Thought je raziskovanje lastne kulturne dediščine, saj prehrana tja prav gotovo sodi, in pogled v kulturno dediščino in življenje prebivalcev drugih držav.
Priprava hrane je tisti del našega vsakdanjika, ki se spreminja glede na letni čas, starost, trende, zdravniška priporočila, zdravstveno stanje, med drugim pa tudi glede na geografske značilnosti. Hrana v različnih delih sveta je tako različna, da smo pripravljeni obiskati tuje države tudi zato, da bi spoznali nove okuse. Pogosto pa niti kuhinje svoje lastne domovine ne poznamo dovolj dobro, da bi o njej lahko razpravljali.
Hrana je pogosto povezana z zgodbami, osebnimi doživljaji, spomini na prednike ali sorodnike, prijatelje, zelo pogosto tudi s posebnimi okoliščinami, ki vplivajo na pripravljanje hrane, kot so na primer prazniki.
Vse to smo z dijaki raziskovali v projektu, ki smo ga opravili s pomočjo spletne učilnice v štirih korakih – s štirimi učnimi listi. Za vsako od štirih nalog so imeli udeleženci teden dni časa. Učni listi so na voljo tudi na spletnem naslovu

Na istem naslovu je tudi skupni rezultat dela – zbirka receptov. Le-to smo naložili tudi na spletni naslov projekta http://www.iearn.org/projects/foods.html.

Abstract
Foreign language lessons (in our case English lessons) can be made much more interesting by participating in iEARN web-based projects.
The aim of the iEARN project Cultural Recipes Book – Food for Thought is studying one’s own cultural heritage, food being part of it, and gaining insight into the cultural heritage and life of other countries.
Food preparation is the part of our daily routine that changes with seasons, ages, trends, medical advice, health status, as well as with geographical characteristics. Food in different parts of the world can be so different that it makes us visit foreign countries also to examine new tastes. Nevertheless, very often we do not even know our own cuisine well enough to be able to discuss it.
Food is very often connected with stories, personal feelings, memories of ancestors, relatives or friends, as well as with special occasions which affect the way we prepare food, such as holidays.
This is what the research of my students was about in this project. We were working in our virtual classroom. The work was done in four steps with four worksheets. For each of the four tasks students could take one week. The worksheets can also be found on the web. The final result (a brochure) was uploaded to the same address as well as to the project web page.
