Povzetek
Pionirski časi uvajanja IKT v vzgojno-izobraževalne zavode so počasi za nami. Informacijska tehnologija in storitve se razvijajo in postajajo dostopne do te mere, da dejansko lahko pomenijo prihranek ali dodano vrednost pri našem vsakdanjem delu in ne le veselje in dodatno obremenitev navdušencev, mi pa smo se medtem z nujnostjo uporabe te tehnologije že skoraj sprijaznili.

A da bi nova orodja zares postala del poučevanja in delovanja informatizirane šole, njihova uporaba ne more biti odvisna od naključij ali dobre volje posameznikov. Za ta kvalitativni preskok pa so poleg zagotovitve opreme in možnosti potrebni usklajeni napori, sistemski ukrepi, standardizacija, zagotavljanje podpore in vzdrževanja, izobraževanje in osveščanje.

Vloga nacionalnih izobraževalnih in raziskovalnih omrežij (NREN), kakršno je ARNES, je v vzpostavljanju enotnih kakovostnih in varnostnih standardov ter povezovanju storitev v omrežjih, ki se oblikujejo po potrebah uporabnikov na šolah, univerzah pa tudi knjižnicah in muzejih kot možnih ponudnikih izobraževalnih vsebin.

Izobraževalno omrežje pa v širšem pomenu ne zajema le e-infrastrukture, ampak skupek e-vsebin, storitev in udeležencev v izobraževanju, ki se povezujejo v delovno in socialno mrežo. Naša naloga je, da temu povezovanju ponudimo oporo na nacionalni in mednarodni ravni, pri tem pa ustvarjamo varno okolje za delo. Zato vidimo kot svojo nalogo tudi zagotovitev možnosti zavodom, da samostojno in pregledno upravljajo s svojimi osebnimi podatki ter nadzirajo dodeljevanje pravic in uporabo skupnih omrežnih storitev.

Pomembni nalogi izobraževalnega omrežja pa sta tudi vzgoja in osveščanje o varni rabi interneta. Nacionalna točka osveščanja SAFE-SI zato svoje delo opira tudi na sodelovanje s šolami.

Abstract
The pioneering age of introducing ICT to educational institutions is slowly coming to a close. Information technology and services are developing and becoming accessible to the extent that they can actually lower costs or add value to our everyday life, and not just excite or frustrate their enthusiastic users. We are now ready to accept them as tools.

In order for these tools to become a part of education and find their place in a modern school, their usage can no more depend on chance or good will of individuals. To carry out this qualitative leap, in addition to technical availability, we feel that synchronized efforts at a national level, including standardization, assurance of constant support, maintenance, education and dissemination of information are required.

The role of National Educational and Research Networks (NREN) – ARNES in Slovenia – is to establish uniform performance, quality and security standards and services in networks that are formed according to the needs of users, not only at schools and universities, but also libraries and museums as potential providers of educational content.

The educational network in its broader sense does not only refer to e-Infrastructure, but also to e-Content, services and participants in education, forming together a working and social network. Our task is to provide all the necessary support for this network on national and international level providing at the same time a safe working environment. Therefore, our task is also to provide the assurance that institutions will be able to easily and independently manage their personal data and control the assignment of rights and the usage of common network services.

Finally, we would like to stress out that an important task of an educational network is also to educate and inform the users about safe usage of the Internet. To carry out this task, the national awareness raising project SAFE-SI is closely collaborating with schools.
