NOVE MOŽNOSTI UČENJA S POMOČJO RAČUNALNIKA

NEW COMPUTER-ENABLED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Denis Justinek, Sergej Jurečko, SparcoNET

Povzetek
Računalniki in raznolika dodatna oprema so našli svoje mesto tudi v izobraževalnem procesu in sodobnega učnega okolja si brez njih ni več mogoče predstavljati.

Abstract
Computers and a variety of additional equipment have found their way into the learning process and it is impossible to imagine a modern learning environment without them. However, they are often used only as substitutes for notebooks and blackboards. Last year we - students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in Maribor , achieved great results at the Imagine Cup competition with our solution, which gave us the idea to adapt it in a way that it could be used also in the learning process. The SparcoNet solution is a framework that enables educators to prepare educational materials and use them in revolutionary new ways. Learning no longer consists of writing, reading or entering data by using a keyboard or mouse. Instead it involves physical activity on the part of the students - by moving parts of their bodies or the entire body. This brings a new dimension to the learning process and can be used to increase motivation during learning. It also brings additional dynamics to the process and creates a healthier learning environment. However, the opportunities do not end here. The SparcoNet framework enables educators to produce visually attractive exercises that can be projected on a suitable surface or display (wall, TV screen, computer screen), and executed through physical movements. All that is required to use the system is a basic computer system and a webcam. When using the system, the user is touching virtual buttons in the air, and the results are projected on a screen. When the user touches these buttons, certain actions occur that refresh the content. Can you imagine pressing the buttons 3, + and 4, and the result – the number 7 appears in front of you? All this can be done without using a mouse or a keyboard. At the session, we speak about how a computer and a webcam can be used to bypass traditional forms of education. We are going to look at how technology enables us to see it from a different point of view – through fun, physical activity and attractive graphical content that attracts people of all ages. The pilot system was installed at a kindergarten, where the children couldn't stop using it.
