Abstract
The SAFE-SI project, which is a part of EU Programme Safer Internet plus is conducted by the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences and ARNES. It promotes the protection and education of children and teenagers using the Internet and new online technologies. The project is oriented towards informing the following target groups: educators, parents and children as regards the benefits and hazards of ICT technologies use. The central activities created and implemented within the project are the following: design and dissemination of awareness materials for each target group (leaflets, brochures, posters), informing and education of target groups through web portal www.safe.si, organisation of educational seminars/workshops for teachers and parents. SAFE-SI thus actively contributes to raising the awareness of the Slovenian society as a whole.
One of the most important objectives of SAFE-SI project was to provide trainings for school teachers as regards Internet safety. First seminars were successfully conducted in April 2006. It is also of strategic importance to incorporate the content that covers the aspects of safer use of ICT technologies in the classroom into the regular curriculum of ICT seminars for teachers. The first step towards achieving this objective has been already made, namely some themes from SAFE-SI training seminar for teachers were introduced at a special ICT teachers trainings organised by Ministry of Education and Sport and National Education Institute in the second half of the year 2006, each attended by more than 100 participants.
In December 2006 SAFE-SI reached an agreement with National Education Institute dealing with the inclusion of the most relevant Internet safety themes to the special ICT seminars for multiplicators organised in year 2007.
