Povzetek
Brez sodobne IT si težko predstavljamo uspešno izvajanje izobraževalnih in raziskovalnih procesov. S tem povezana hitra rast števila potrebnih sistemov ter aplikacij povzroča precejšne probleme tako uporabnikom kot tudi centrom za IT-podporo. Študije so pokazale, da je v izobraževalnih okoljih administriranje uporabnikov časovno najzahtevnejša aktivnost IT-oddelkov, pozabljena gesla pa so razlog za 30 % vseh klicev na centre za pomoč uporabnikom. Potreba po zagotavljanju mobilnosti uporabnikov in gostovanju lahko še dodatno poveča kompleksnost postopkov in rešitev. Poleg zagotavljanja varnosti je bilo administriranje uporabnikov identificirano kot najbolj kritičen strateški izziv na področju IT-podpore. Na predavanju bo podan pregled problematike in prikazana bo rešitev v obliki infrastrukture za ugotavljanje istovetnosti in avtorizacijo uporabnikov (AAI) ter sistema za administriranje podatkov o uporabnikih (IdM). Rešitev je zasnovana na sprejetih standardih in je prijazna do uporabnikov, saj bo olajšala uporabo aplikacij in dostop do vsebin, hkrati pa bo razbremenila IT-osebje. Podana so konkretna priporočila ter smernice za nadaljnji razvoj v Sloveniji, ki bo zagotavljal kompatibilnost z rešitvami v evropskem okolju.

Abstract

Information technology is becoming one of the prerequisites for the success of educational and research activities. Since the number of required systems and applications is growing very fast, users as well as IT support centres are becoming under a considerate strain. Research has shown that user administration consumes the highest level of resources of IT services departments in education environment. Forgotten passwords itself cause more than 30% of calls to help desks. The need for support for mobility of users can increase the complexity of procedures and solutions even more. User administration and security have been identified as the most critical strategic IT challenges. An overview of the issue is given, as well as a solution in the form of an infrastructure for user authentication and authorization (AAI) and a system for identity management (IdM). The solution is based on accepted standards, it is user friendly and lessens the burden to IT staff. Concrete recommendations for further development in Slovenia assuring compatibility with solutions in European environment are given.
